Lysos, a village of boundless natural beauty, is located 9 kilometers northeast of the dense forest of Paphos. The rich flora and fauna make up the natural environment of Lysos. In fact, the largest part of the land area is covered by dense forest and wild vegetation.
Nature has gifted Lysos with its most beautiful colors and aromas, since the wild vegetation, consisting mainly of pines, cedars, latzias and various types of flowers, cover its vast expanses. Unsurprisingly, Lysos becomes even more beautiful during the spring months, when wild flowers bloom, among them the beautiful orchids.
Lysos, as mentioned above, has, in addition to rich flora, also rich fauna. The fauna of Lysos consists mainly of rare birds, birds and reptiles. Here you will also encounter the Cypriot wild goat, a type of wild sheep and goat, which lives in the Paphos forest. In the lush Lysos, many wild hares and foxes find refuge. Among the birds that you can admire are the vulture, the black francolin, the peacock, the owl, the sparrow and many migratory birds.
One can explore and admire the “natural wealth” by walking along the Nature Trails. A good idea would be to combine your walk in the wild landscape with a stop at either the tavern or the small cafe, which offers various drinks and snacks. In addition, within this wonderful landscape there are some accommodations, which are limited in number. As well as a beautiful hotel built with local stone that will delight you.
Areas of wild vegetation alternate with areas of arable land. More specifically, vineyards, carob trees, fruit trees, citrus fruits, legumes, cereals and seasonal vegetables are cultivated in Lysos.
